It certainly had a good intention. That of helping felines living on the street. But the situation degenerated and the animals found themselves in even more precarious conditions than before.

It all started when a woman living in England , in a boarding house for people with mental disorders, took in stray cats in her small room. She didn’t have them spayed, and that’s the root of the whole problem. The felines began to breed, and soon the woman was overwhelmed. A story reported by the York Daily Record .

75 cats accumulated in a very small room

In a short time, the felines proliferated, until 75 cats found themselves living in a very small room. Someone discovered this situation and notified Carol Molina , founder of York’s Feline Solutions , which helps cats in need.

Carol went there and was shocked. The sight she discovered was very sad. The room was unsanitary, and the animals were in very poor condition. They were thin, because the woman who sheltered them did not have the means to feed them properly. And they were sick, due to poor living conditions.

“ They literally didn’t have a square meter free to move around as they pleased. Some were inside an aquarium, 10 others shared a chair. I couldn’t breathe ,” says Carol .

As for the owner, she felt helpless in the face of the situation. She no longer had enough money to feed the felines, and no more space in her room.

A rescue in several stages

Carol does not have a shelter. She welcomes the felines into her home on a temporary basis, then seeks to rehouse them. First, she left with 10 cats at home, in order to unclog the room a little. She provided food for everyone else.

The rescuer then returned a few days later with friends, and they collected 33 more cats. A final passage was necessary to save the 32 remaining felines.

The priority was then to have them sterilized, and allow them to recover their health, before having them adopted.
