After historic floods pushed reptiles out of their habitats and into houses, a huge python swallowed a wallaby whole in a garden.
A recent monsoon and strong floods ravaged the region, bringing stray crocodiles and snakes into human habitats.
Confronting images show the serpent’s jaws wrapped around the helpless marsupial, displaying the animal kingdom’s rut.hlessness. “When we arrived, I thought, ‘wow, that is a gigantic snake,’” said the snake catcher. It was difficult to transfer it without disturbing the snake and causing it to vomit the wallaby.
“With all of the rain we’ve had, the python must have been forced out into the open in search of a feed, which is how it wound up in a residential neighborhood.” The caller was anxious since the snake had just attacked his pet German Shepard dog, which is unusual in this region.” Scrub pythons are the biggest species of snake, reaching lengths of up to eight meters.
Though they are not poisonous, they can inflict a terrible bite and prey on huge animals such as wallabies and even crocodiles. The reptiles accomplish the stomach-churning feat by employing tendons, muscles, and ligaments in their mouth to swallow huge prey.
“Pythons are opportunistic feeders, and after the German Shepard escaped, it occurred to come upon the wallaby,” he explained. “We felt it would be a terrific photo opportunity to show everyone what pythons can consume, so we reached for the camera first.” I bagged and transferred the wallaby after we were certain that it had been completely devoured.”
