Wrexham fans are buzzing with excitement over which Hollywood icon theyd like to see next at the Racecourse Ground, following a social media shout-out by Rob McElhenney.
Since the Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia mastermind and Ryan Reynolds took the reins, the North Wales stadium has welcomed a parade of A-listers, including Will Ferrell, Hugh Jackman, Eva Longoria, and Paul Rudd. Now, fans are clamoring for McElhenney to invite Danny DeVito, his co-star from Always Sunny, to catch a game in Wrexham.
The call to action comes after McElhenney celebrated DeVitos 80th birthday on social media, posting a photo and calling him an American treasure He said: This man was born 80 years ago today. He could still drink you under the table. He could still make you laugh harder than anyone youve ever met. He could still make you feel like youre the only person in the room.
He could still give you the best advice youve ever gotten and make you feel loved no matter what. Hes an American treasure. There is only one @DannyDeVito Fans have responded to the post with a clear message.
The fan account Fearless in Devotion commented: Hope you manage to bring him over to a game one day. One of the best to ever do it. Meanwhile, a supporter named Wayne added: Happy Birthday Danny, from all at Wrexham AFC. When are you coming over to Wrexham so we can all meet you?
Meanwhile, another fan pleaded: Please, lets see him in the next season of Wrexham. Several of McElhenneys Always Sunny co-stars, including Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson and Charlie Day, have already visited Wrexham.
They surprised fans by serving pints at The Turf pub in April 2023. There were rumors that DeVito was in town in October 2021, but it turned out to be a lookalike filming a trailer for the Welcome to Wrexham documentary. Now, Wrexham supporters are hoping that the real DeVito will make an appearance.
The news comes as it has also been revealed that Wayne Rooney might be the next big name to grace our screens in a documentary series, following in the footsteps of Wrexhams owners. Having taken charge of Plymouth Argyle, the former Manchester United idol looks set to become the focal point of a new docu-series capturing his fresh challenge in the Championship.
The Sun has claimed that cameras are already in full swing, documenting Rooneys backstage moves at the club. Whether he will channel Wrexham manager Phil Parkinsons famously fiery half-time pep talks is yet to be seen, but show is already being compared to Welcome to Wrexham.
The news that Rooney could be appearing in a documentary has not gone down well everywhere. Plymouth fans on social media have expressed concerns with their team currently placed just one point above the drop zone in the Championship.
