NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The award-winning musical “Hadestown” will be in Nashville for the next few days, featuring a talented cast ready to pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) described this acclaimed show from celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and original director Rachel Chavkin—also known for “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812″—as “a love story for today… and always.”

“Hadestown” earned 14 nominations for the 2019 Tony Awards and won eight of them, including Best Musical, as well as the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

According to TPAC, “Hadestown” invites the audience on a hell-raising journey to and from the underworld as it intertwines two iconic tales from Greek mythology: that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife, Persephone.

Through Mitchell’s beguiling melodies; Chavkin’s poetic imagination; and the vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers, and singers, “Hadestown” offers a “haunting and hopeful theater experience that grabs you and never lets go,” officials said.

If you’re interested in seeing the musical for yourself, there will be five performances at TPAC from Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9. Tickets are available online.
