The actor channeled her character in a black lace Loewe dress with the most dramatic skirt.
If there’s one thing Aubrey Plaza does better than anyone, it’s dark, dry humor. So, why not wear the fashion to match?
The actor made a showstopping appearance at the special launch event for Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along, the spooky fantasy miniseries in which she plays Rio Vidal, a warrior witch. Always one to dress the part, Plaza debuted a striking black floral lace gown from Loewe while on the red carpet at Los Angeles’s El Capitan Theatre.
The piece featured a strapless corseted bodice with black rose-patterned lace laid above a beige backdrop, At the waist, the boning of the corset jutted out to the sides, creating a dramatic, jagged silhouette that transformed into a draped see-through skirt in the same floral lace.
Styled by Jessica Paster, Plaza completed the sultry witch-meets–wealthy widow ensemble with pointy black pumps, dangly diamond earrings, and black eyeliner. Her hair was styled in a messy, wavy ’do.
In her recent Time cover story, Plaza spoke about how she found herself filming scenes for Megalopolis and Agatha All Along during the same period, and she noticed that while in the Francis Ford Coppola film she plays a Machiavellian journalist and in the other she plays a witch, they’re “both villainous characters.”
“But I’m a platinum blonde dripping in diamonds, wearing thousands of dollars of Versace gowns in Megalopolis, and then for Agatha [All Along], I’m wearing a jet black wig with a warrior-style supervillain getup,” she said. The actor added that she “felt completely insane” and like she was “ripping a hole in the fabric of the universe and quantum leaping myself to different worlds.”
Agatha All Along will premiere on Disney+ on September 18, while Megalopolis will be released in theaters in the United States on September 27.
