US President Donald Trump is expected to sign a series of executive orders on the afternoon of May 23 local time to revive the country’s nuclear power industry. According to Reuters, the upcoming decrees aim to simplify the regulatory approval process for new nuclear reactors, strengthen the domestic nuclear fuel supply chain and reduce dependence on foreign uranium sources – especially from Russia and China.
The move is in line with the administration’s overall strategy to increase energy independence and support clean energy technology.
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright praised Mr. Trump’s efforts and stressed the urgency of developing energy infrastructure to meet the growing demand from artificial intelligence and data centers.
